Alain Voss

Alain Voss, or Al Voss, was born in France (1946) and raised in Brazil where he lived for the fist half of his life, later on he moved to Europe and spent a great deal of time in France, currently he lives in Portugal. Since the mid 1970s his work has been published in Pilote, Métal Hurlant, OOR (Dutch), Shwer Metal and Heavy Metal with comics like ‘Heilman’, ‘Tobiaze’ and a series of parodies called “Parodies de Al Voss”. These persiflages on famous comic heroes like ‘Popeye’, ‘Asterix’, ‘The Smurfs’, ‘Blueberry’ and ‘Superman’ were collected in albums by Les Humanoïdes Associés. Voss was also sporadically present in Mormoil and Charlie Mensuel. Al also made many illustrations for Le Point, Nouvel Observateur, Le Monde, L'Expansion and many record covers. Winner of a first prize in 1981 in France. His work has been distributed in Holland, all over the rest of Europe and beyond.
